This story begins with me living in Milwaukee, WI. My ex had moved out and into an apartment with my so called best friend. I was devastated for awhile. I started chatting with people online and met a wonderful poet. I became president of his fan club. LOL. He would send me poems and I responded with praise and requests for more poems. Eventually we started chatting on instant messenger. I loved my online friend. We chatted everyday. So when my ex decided he wanted me back and started acting phsyco and stalkerish. I knew I needed to leave Milwaukee. My best friend and I talked about it and we decided I would come to West Virginia and start over there.
Moving Day:
I packed my clothes and a few precious items. I got the cats into their cat carriers. After bandaging the wounds, started loading the car. I caught my ex, by my car and (after his vandalizing the car twice in one week) was ready to go into battle. I was so close to being free. After listening to him tell me that he wanted me back, I agreed to think about it. I put the cats in the car and drove away. Now it was raining just a little when I left. My windshield wipers didn't work (thanks to the ex).
The Trip:
Ever spend 24 hours in a small Nissan Sentra with two unhappy cats? You don't want to. I get through the rain and only hit a few scattered showers. I get to the Illinois / Indiana line then spend 3 hours trying to go 5 miles. Interstate is closed due to flooding. I get through the detour and yeah we are moving again. Oh no! now it is about five in the morning and I am exhausted. I pull over and take about an hour nap.
I get back on the road and make it through Indiana and almost all the way through Ohio. I get about a 130 miles from my destination, and I feel a vibration from the front of the car. Oh no! I don't have a spare. Just let me get to the next exit. Pop! Nope there goes the tire.
Text message and a phone call. He's on his way. It'll take about two hours to get there. So I sit and wait on the side of the road with two very unhappy and cranky cats.
I see the van as they pull up. I am hot, tired, frustrated (I could go on but you get the picture) and I had to pee so bad. Not one bush where I had the flat at. I watched him as he jumped out of the van and started walking back to my car.
Suddenly, I felt very nervous and excited. Not the meeting I had had planned in my mind. Oh well. He walked over and squatted down beside me and said, "Hi, I'm Rabid." My nervousness left and I laughed. This was my best friend.
And that is the story of Mine and Rabid's first meeting. As I type this he is sitting tuning his guitar, and for the first time in a long time, I feel safe and that I am finally home.
